Competition Programme
First round (not more than 30 minutes)
- One polyphony piece by the following Russian composers: P. Tchaikovsky, S. Taneyev, A. GIazunov,
N. Rimsky-Korsakov, D. Shostakovich, R. Shchedrin, S. Slonimsky*.
- One virtuoso etude by the following Russian composers: A. Rubinstein, A. GIazunov, S. Lyapunov, A. Arensky, F. BIumenfeld, A. Skriabin, S. Prokofyev, I. Stravinsky.
- S. Rachmaninoff — one piece of the early opuses or one prelude (op.23 or op.32).
* Participants are allowed to perform polyphony piece by a western composer instead.
Second round (not. more than 45 minutes)
- One major piece by the following Russian composers: M. Musorgsky, P. Tchaikovsky, A. GIazunov,
A. Skriabin, S. Rachmaninoff, A. Lyadov, N. Metner, S. Prokofyev, D. Shostakovich, I. Stravinsky,
N. Myaskovsky, R. Shchedrin, D. Kabalevsky*.
- One or several piano miniature (XIX–XX centuries) by the following Russian composers: M. Glinka,
M. Balakirev, A. Arensky, A. Lyadov, P. Tchaikovsky (op. 19,op. 40,op. 72), A. Skriabin, N. Metner, S. Prokofyev, D. Shostakovich, R. Shchedrin.
- S. Rachmaninoff — etude-picture or transcription.
* Participants are allowed to perform major piece by a western composer instead.
Third round
- One from S. Rachmaninoff's concertos (from the first four concertos either the 1st movement or the
2–3 movements must be performed)
