The Choir of russian traditional folk music
Professor Maria Drutskaya
is the artistic director of the Choir of Russian Traditional Folk
Music. The participants of the choir are students
which love and value Russian traditional art. The repertoire consists
of different genres and styles music (lyric, dance, games, joking
etc.), transcription of folk songs and original composers works.
During the concerts presented by the choir students introduce the public to the
folklore of Russia and other countries, and to the works of composers and
professors from our Institute. Singing,
dancing and playing different folk musical instruments all are
parts of the performances.
The Choir of Russian traditional folk music
educates young adults to become excellent judges of Russian art,
establishes the atmosphere
of Russian antiquity and acquaintes everyone with the
traditions of Russian song.

Classic music choir
The history of the choir began in 1882, then a group of singers arose to form the basis of the Tambov musical classes. In 1900 the group obtained the title "The Choir of sacral singing" and in 1903 its educational status. Outside of it's educational function the choir has active concert practice in all years of its activity. The repertoire of the choir is very extensive, including great works such as symphony No.9 of L.Beethoven, "Stabat Mater" of G.Pergolesi, "Iohann Damaskin" of S.Tanejev, "Symphony of psalms" of I.Stravinsky.
During the more than 100 years of its history the choir was directed by talanted musicians including V.Verzhbitsky, S.Starikov, A.Morozov, G.Smetanin, N.Babichev, I.Demin, S.Khvorostov. Also actual professors of the choir conducting department: V.Kazmina, T.Tsveigart, S.Khramova, B.Rashev, A.Kozlov.
At the present time professor Olga Nemkova is the official director and conductor of the choir. She is a graduate of the Saratov State Conservatoire (professor N.Vladimirtseva's class).

The Orchestra of Russian folk musical instruments
The orchestra was originally organized in 1932.
The participants are students of the Rachmaninov Institute.
The repertoire of the orchestra includes pieces by Russian and foreign classical composers: P.Tschaikovsky, S.Rachmaninoff, A.Liadov, A.Arensky, G.Sviridov, F.Mendelssohn, R.Schumann, C.Debussy, M.Ravel, S.Barber; fantasies on Russian themes, original works of composers: V.Andrejev, N.Budashkin, P.Kulikov, V.Gorodovskaya, Ju.Schishakov, G.Frid, G.Shenderiov; pieces by Tambov's composers also, and musical work for voice and different instruments with orchestra.
Performances of the orchestra have meet met with great success. The orchestra has recorded for television and radio programs.
The orchestra is a platform for students beginning a conducting career. The group is a prize-winner of national and regional competitions in Saratov and Voronezh. During it's long history the orchestra was directed by: V.Peskov, N.Naumov, Ju.Khramov. Professor Juri Khramov and professor Igor Iljinsky are conductors of the orchestra at the present time.
