After graduating from a 5-year course of study the following qualifications will be conferred:
Piano - performing activities, a soloist of the chamber ensemble, an accompanist, a teacher.
Orchestral strings instruments — a solo performer, a soloist of the orchestra, a soloist of the chamber ensemble, a teacher.
Orchestral wind and brass, percussion — a solo performer, a soloist of the orchestra, a soloist of the chamber ensemble, a teacher.
Folk instruments — a solo performer, a soloist of the orchestra, a soloist of the chamber ensemble, a teacher. The supplementary qualification — the conductor of folk instruments orchestra.
The academic chorus conductorship — a conductor of the academic chorus, a chorus accompanist, a teacher.
Musicology — a musicologist, a teacher.

The Faculty for Professional Development and In-service Specialist Training offers the following programmes:

• professional development programmes for executives and specialists of the institute type (minimum 500 hrs);
• qualifications improvement programmes for executives and specialists of the institute type (minimum 72 hrs);
• programmes of additional education of the institute type (without restriction of educational level and terms of training).    

The Faculty enrols specialists with higher and secondary educational background in the field. The Faculty offers different forms and programmes of professional development for teachers of music schools, art schools, teacher training schools (colleges), children's music and art schools, institutions of culture and the arts Individual and group training is held in the following specialities:

The course programmes include lectures on the issues of the current state and prospects of music education, the fundamentals of music psychology and pedagogy, workshops and seminars, introduction of new methodological elaborations in different spheres of cultural activities.

Training for tuition fees. Full-time and distant training. Trainees can stay at the hostel of the Rachmaninov Tambov State Academy of Music.

The Faculty was founded on February 1, 2001. The Faculty's staff includes: the Musical College and the Musical School named after Starikov, the Preparatory Courses for the students entering the musical educational Institutions of the different professional degree.

The Faculty of preliminary preparation, gives the following types of educational activity:

• Supplementary (elementary) musical education for children;
• The medium professional education;
• The supplementary musical education (preparatory courses for the students entering the musical educational Institutions of the different professional degree).

Elementary musical education
